Symptoms

The Provider added new resources to the existing Service Template in POA, and now they want to add the new resources into the existing subscriptions based on the modified Service Template.

They logged in to the PBA Control Panel and tried to synchronize the Service Plan based on the modified POA Service Template with subscriptions in hopes of adding the new resources to subscriptions; however, the new resources were not added to the existing subscriptions on the POA side.

A similar problem may occur if the Provider modifies limits on resources in the POA Service Template and tries to synchronize them with the existing subscriptions.

Cause

The Synchronize button in the Service Plan properties in the PBA Provider Control Panel synchronizes only resources that are present as Resource Rates in the Service Plan.

So, if the Provider only added new resources in the Service Template on the POA side and did not create corresponding Resource Rates for them in the PBA Service Plan, the Synchronize button in the plan's properties will not add the resources to the existing subscriptions.

Similarly, if the Provider modified limits of resources in the POA Service Template and there are no corresponding Resource Rates in the PBA Service Plan, using the Synchronize button in the plan's properties will not modify the corresponding limits of the resources in the existing subscriptions in POA.

Resolution

Use one of the following ways to add new resources to existing subscriptions on the POA side:

  1. Synchronize resources through the corresponding Service Template (not Service Plan) in PBA.

  2. Create Resource Rates for the added resources in the PBA Service Plan.

After performing reconfiguration of the resources included in the POA Service Template, open this Service Template in the PBA Provider Control Panel at Products > Service Plans > Service Templates and switch to the Resources tab. Click on the modified resource and then click the Synchronize button.

With this type of synchronization, the proper resource amount will be copied from the POA Service Template to subscriptions in POA if the resource is not included in Resource Rates of the Service Plan in PBA (the OpenAPI method pem.setResourceTypeLimit is used in this case).

If a resource is included in Resource Rates in the Service Plan, then PBA will copy all the resource amounts from the PBA subscription to the POA subscription. Note that in this case, full synchronization of the PBA subscription with the plan is not performed.

Available options when synchronizing resources from within a Service Template in the PBA Provider Control Panel:

  • According to the instructions above, select the proper value of the Install to Subscriptions parameter while performing the synchronization.

  • The Update Reseller's Customers option allows you to apply synchronization to the reseller's customers' subscriptions (if they are based on a delegated Service Template or a delegated Service Plan).

  • Start Date after and Start Date before allow you to filter the subscriptions to be synchronized; the start date of a subscription must satisfy this time range in order to be synchronized. If these dates are not specified, then synchronization will be applied to all subscriptions.

Alternatively, the Provider may create Resource Rates for the new resources added to the POA Service Template in the corresponding Service Plan(s) in PBA and then use the Synchronize button in the Service Plan properties to add the new resources to POA subscriptions.
