Symptoms

Attempt to search anything through file manager interface fails with error:

Unable to connect to backend

Cause

Webspace contains too many files and PHP runs out of memory to handle it.

Resolution

  1. Increase the value for memory_limit in /usr/local/pem/sysvhosts/elFinder/conf/php.ini.

  2. Reload web server:

    /etc/init.d/pemhttpd reload
