Symptoms
pau service crashes unexpectedly during daily billing. The following message is logged to /var/log/pa/core.log (>7.0) or /var/log/poa.log (6.0):
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: GC overhead limit exceeded
During the crash, CP becomes unavailable, all pages show Service Unavailable error.
There is a preceding pem.getResourceUsageSummaryForPeriod API call for a power reseller subscription that includes resources like 'Diskpace' or 'Traffic', and the reseller customers contain a lot of subscriptions with these resources with daily resource usage changes.
The same crash occurs, in case the Resources tab is opened for this reseller subscription in Billing. The crash does not occur instantly, but with a delay of 20-30 minutes after opening the page.
Cause
The issue is acknowledged as POA-110882 pem.getResourceUsageSummaryForPeriod causes PAU OOM on power reseller subscription.
Resolution
Contact TAM or PTA to check the status of the software issue.
