In order to upgrade from Operations Automation version 6 to 7, should the customer upgrade CentOS to version 7 on the Management Node first and then upgrade OA, or OA should be upgraded to version 7 prior to CentOS on the Management Node to version 7?

Answer

Operations Automation version 6 does not support RHEL or CentOS version 7. As described in the Deployment Materials for OA 6, the CentOS versions supported are from 6.5 and higher but it does not specify CentOS or RHEL of a new generation. Please refer to the following link:

Furthermore, the Upgrade Workflow Guide for OA 7, clearly states what should be done in order to upgrade to OA version 7. One of the steps contains this information:

  1. MN node and OS requirements: 160450-POA-94391-winmn.chief.py – Windows is not supported, MN node should be migrated to Linux 160440-POA-94391-centos5x86.chief.py – CentOS 5 is not supported anymore, MN should be migrated to CentOS 6

Please follow the link to find this passage:

To sum up, in order to be prepared to upgrade to Operations Automation version 7.0, Management Node should have CentOS version from the 6th generation and equals or higher than 6.5 version.
