Symptoms

OACI module includes the following resources in its service template:

CI Container CPU Usage stopped
CI RAM usage stopped
CI network disk usage stopped

Certain prices have been configured for these resources, so they should be billed during the period, when a VE is stopped, but still uses hardware resources (disk space at least).

No billing orders appear for some subscriptions. What does this behavior depend on?

Resolution

The behavior for billing subscriptions has changed with time.

Prior to OA 6.0 Update 9, the billing flow was as follows:

  • While the subscription is enabled, the resources are billed all the time without restrictions.
  • When the subscription gets stopped/disabled, but VE still exists, the resources are not billed.
  • If the subscription gets terminated, no orders are created for the past period.
  • If the susbcription gets enabled again, the resources are billed for the whole period, when the VE was disabled.

OA 6.0 Update 9 applied corrections to this flow in scope of improvement request CCU-12595, and the sequence now is:

  • While the subscription is enabled, the resources are billed all the time without restrictions.
  • When the subscription gets stopped/disabled, the resources continue to be billed on monthly basis.
  • Billing stops only when the subscription gets terminated.

Note: With the installation of Update 9, all stopped/disabled subscriptions will receive a billing order with the summed up usage for "stopped" resources. Therefore, such orders may appear unexpected for end customers.
