Symptoms
No SRV records are resolved by PowerDNS servers registered in Operations Automation.
PowerDNS version in use is 3.4.10.
Log records of pdns service, normally in /var/log/messages, show the following errors:
pdns[11747]: Exception: All data was not consumed
pdns[11747]: Exception building answer packet (All data was not consumed) sending out servfail
Cause
PowerDNS version 3.4.10 is sensible to a white space character added to SRV records content by OA. Earlier PowerDNS versions are not affected by the problem.
Resolution
Use the PowerDNS version, officially supported by Operations Automation, i.e. available in native OS repositories:
A Feature Request to support PowerDNS 3.4 exists with internal ID POA-107113. Contact your Technical Account Manager or Pooled Technical Associates team in order to check the status of this request.
