Symptoms
Assigning Office 365 (APS application 1.2) service to a user in the CCP v2 fails with error: «'up_UserPrincipalName' is invalid: Domain mydomain.ru is not registered for use with Microsoft Online Services. Please add domain in Configuration of services before adding users of this domain»
Cause
The CCP v2 is unable to detect the domain status in Office 365 when creating the users, so it allows to proceed with user email on a domain that is not accepted by Microsoft.
Resolution
- Make sure you are using the email address on a domain that belongs to you. Email addresses on the third-party domains like gmail.com or hotmail.com cannot be used with Office 365 module based on APS 1.2 in the CCP v2. Even if you don’t register any vanity domains, Office 365 does offer you a subdomain in .onmicrosoft.com zone for free. (The subdomain to be used can be found in the CCP v2 > Office 365 > Administration > Settings).
- Make sure that domain is added to the Office 365 service: CCP v2 > Office 365 > Configuration > Domains.
- Make sure that Microsoft has completed the domain ownership verification. Log in to Microsoft Online Portal using administrator's credentials and follow the procedure of the domain verification.
Be aware that a welcome message and other invitations to Odin Automation will be sent to this email address before the user gets an access to it. Therefore, you should use some alternative method to transfer the Office 365 credentials to the user.
