Symptoms
An on-line store cannot be installed on Windows 2008 server, an error is returned on running the .msi package:
There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A script required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.
An event viewer shows more detailed error:

Cause
The script stopped on attempt to configure IIS because one of required server roles/components missing.
Resolution
Install missing roles. The required list can be found in the documentation:
