Symptoms

The Provider started the online migration of a PACI Virtual Machine (i.e. migration of a VM in running state). The status of the VM did not change to 'Migration in progress', it is still shown as 'Running' in both the POA Provider and Customer Control Panel.

The error message 'The CPUs on the source and destination servers are not compatible' can be found in the /var/log/IM/PACI-IM.log on the PACI Instance Manager (IM) server like in the example below:

2013-11-03 10:37:06,653 DEBUG Pipeline [Shared executor thread #10 @5] - Running pipeline #15689 [(Migrate VE), created at node [im1], step 1 ([MIGRATE]), mode: EXEC, state:CALLBACK]
2013-11-03 10:37:06,653 INFO GenericVm2VfCallback [Shared executor thread #10 @5] - GenericVm2VfCallback.done_with_message(-2147282877, The CPUs on the source and destination servers are not compatible.)

Cause

CPUs on the source and destination servers are not compatible.

Resolution

In such case, only offline migration can be performed - stop the VM and perform a migration attempt. Check the /var/log/IM/PACI-IM.log file on the PACI IM server if the problem reappear.
