Symptoms

The sales order for the domain transfer to OPENSRS fails with one of the errors:

- "Registrar declined request for domain transfer. Domain transfer submitted to OpenSRS but there is a problem. (465) Invalid data Minimum of 2 nameservers must be supplied. Domain status:Prepared."

- "Name Servers creation/registration was failed. Domain status:Registered Domain in External System. <name_server.tld>: Unrecognized TLD for nameserver <name_server.tld>"

Cause

The current nameservers, which can be checked with dig command:

dig +nocmd domain.tld NS +noall +answer

do not satisfy the OPENSRS requirements. Since the setting "Name Servers for Domain Transfer" is set to "Keep existing" (https://kb.parallels.com/117780), the same NSes are attempted to be used for transfer.

Resolution

  1. Ask the current domain owner to update NS information to satisfy OPENSRS requirements, resubmit an order as soon as domain information is updated.

    OR

  2. Change temporarily "Keep existing" to "Move to Provider's" and if required "Name Servers Source Type" to "Use name servers defined explicitly", indicate the required NSes, provision the order and change the settings back. You may later (after successful transfer) change the domain NSes from the control panel to any required.
