When attemtong to restore data that was originally backed up on a different Plesk Server, the restoration process rolls back without prompting.
I wanted to restore the data, which were backed up on one of my servers, on another one where I installed Plesk. I installed it on a clean machine and I had just installed Plesk before I started restoring. Restoring was going fine, but the rollback process started without prompts. I found this error message in the restore log:
"Can't restore MS SQL database mydoms_db: Cannot open backup device 'C:\\DOCUME~1\\ADMINI~1\\LOCALS~1\\Temp\\tmpXXXX.tmp'. Device error or device off-line. See the SQL Server error log for more details."
The point is that Microsoft SQL databases cannot be restored and the restore utility starts reverting Plesk to original state that was before restoring. This may happen if a user account, which is used by Microsoft SQL service for logging on (e.g. MSSQL_USER), is not the same that you used to log on to the system (e.g. Administrator).
To resolve it (if continuing our example with MSSQL_USER and Administrator), assign to MSSQL_USER user 'Full control' permission on the system temporary folder (e.g. "c:\WINDOWS\Temp") and the user account temporary folder (in our example it should be "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temp").
