I. The phpMyAdmin can be installed from tar.gz. Please, follow these steps:

  • Download the latest version of phpMyAdmin from
  • Copy it into the Confixx home directory, for example, into  /home/www/confixx/html
  • Change the directory #cd /home/www/confixx/html
  • Unpack this archive: tar –zxf phpMyAdmin-X.X.X.tar.gz
  • Rename the directory #mv phpMyAdmin-X.X.X phpMyAdmin
  • Go to this directory: cd ./ phpMyAdmin
  • Edit conf-file “” namely:
    - $cfg['PmaAbsoluteUri'] (e.g $cfg['PmaAbsoluteUri'] = ‘http//’;)
    - $cfg['Servers'][$i]['auth_type'] = 'http';


II. The phpMyAdmin can be configured for Debian if phpMyAdmin is installed as a deb-package:

Edit  /etc/phpmyadmin/apache.conf:

Alias /phpMyAdmin /usr/share/phpmyadmin

<DirectoryMatch /usr/share/phpmyadmin/>
Options +FollowSymLinks
AllowOverride None
order allow,deny
allow from all
<IfModule mod_php3.c>
php3_magic_quotes_gpc Off
php3_track_vars On
php3_include_path .
<IfModule mod_php4.c>
php_flag magic_quotes_gpc Off
php_flag track_vars On
php_value include_path .
php_admin_value open_basedir /usr/share/phpmyadmin:/etc/phpmyadmin

III. The phpMyAdmin can be configured for Suse if phpMyadmin is installed as an rpm-package:

Insert the following entries into  http.conf or confixx_mhost.conf but not into  <VirtualHost ..> :

Alias /phpMyAdmin <directory where phpMyAdmin is installed>
<Directory <directory where phpMyAdmin is installed>>
php_admin_value open_basedir <directory where phpMyAdmin is installed>


Alias /phpMyAdmin /srv/www/htdocs/phpMyAdmin/
<Directory "/srv/www/htdocs/phpMyAdmin/">
php_admin_value open_basedir /srv/www/htdocs/phpMyAdmin/

And specify the phpMyAdmin path in the Administrator interface (Settings => Databases => phpMyAdmin Path ) as  “/phpMyAdmin” or  URL (e.g. )
