Question

  • The text in the online store is displayed in English, even though a different language has been chosen in the store.
  • Some words or sentences are incorrectly translated in the online store, or sentences are poorly formulated.

How can a translation be added or corrected?

Answer

Localizing the online store involves updating the dictionary from the Business Automation (BA) Provider or Reseller Control Panel.

Home> Products> Online Store> Languages

The dictionary represents a collection of "word"-"value" pairs, where the word is a placeholder and the value defines the way the placeholder is interpreted in the online store.

If the required locale exists in Lion (or the language is one officially provided by Odin), the required translations are already present in the locale. You can simply import the dictionary file (locale-bmstore.lang) to BA.

To correct a translation, follow the instructions from the documentation. To apply your changes, store synchronization is required.

It is possible that not all text in the online store has a special placeholder in the dictionaries (for example, if you have customized the store by including additional comments in layout template(s)). To have this text translated, follow the instructions below:

  1. Find a modified layout template

    Home> Products > Online Store> Layout Templates

    Replace the text you added with a construction like:

    {$smarty.session.LANG.NEW_KEY_WORD}

    Where NEW_KEY_WORD is a unique key word, with no spaces.

  2. Add a new word-value pair to all the dictionaries that are in use. In each dictionary, click the "Add New Translation" button and specify NEW_KEY_WORD in the Word field and a translation (the text which will be displayed in the store) in Translation.

  3. Synchronize the store to apply your changes.
