How to change FrontPage 2002 admin password from the command line


This document describes how to change the FrontPage 2002 admin password through the command line.
It might be useful in case a a VDS owner forgets his FrontPage 2002 admin password.

FrontPage authenticates through the Apache "AuthConfig" subsystem, which uses .htpasswd files to store
usernames and passwords to bring up an authentication window.

The .htpasswd file that FrontPage 2002 uses is located at :


In order to change the password for FronPage 2002 for a vds write :

htpasswd -bc ~VDSNAME/usr/local/apache/htdocs/_vti_pvt/service.pwd USERNAME PASSWORD
