Clustered Qmail runs over NFS, mail related background tasks are stuck running, email services are affected too.

Sometimes NFS mounted storages can fail (usually due to network issues) and it could block all IO operations on them, so Clustered Qmail stops working.

Usually, the only solution is to restart all NFS bound services:

On affected mail servers:

1) stop all mail-related services:
# /etc/init.d/courier-imap stop
# /etc/init.d/qmail stop
# /etc/init.d/xinetd stop

2) kill all processes, which were using files from NFS

3) unmount NFS share
umount -f /usr/local/qmail/shared

4) stop NFS services
# /etc/init.d/nfs stop
# /etc/init.d/nfslock stop

5) kill pem agent
# killall -9 pem pleskd

On the NFS server:

1) restart NFS services (can be server-specific):
# /etc/init.d/nfs restart

On affected mail servers:

1) start NFS services
# /etc/init.d/nfs start
# /etc/init.d/nfslock start

2) mount NFS share
# mount -a

3) start mail services
# /etc/init.d/courier-imap start
# /etc/init.d/qmail start
# /etc/init.d/xinetd start

4) start PEM agent
# /etc/init.d/pem start
