It was found that all subscriptions based on VPS Hosting resource model are lacking traffic usage information in OA control panel. On IM and Virtuozzo side traffic counters are updated correctly and information is passed to OA. However, OA resource usage logs have never been updated for traffic resource of VPS Hosting subscriptions.

The issue affects only VPS Hosting (flat-fee) subscriptions. Traffic for Cloud Infrastructure (PAYG) subscriptions is calculated correctly.

Additional symptom: there are rare occasions of huge traffic usage spikes on some VPS Hosting subscriptions.

Several software-related issues contribute to the case:

  1. CCU-16836: "Switch resource type for inbound and outbound traffic to KBa"

Traffic counters are not propagated from APS to OA resources. Traffic is calculated incorrectly - as non-additive resource regardless of BA settings.

  2. CCU-16361: "Traffic resource usage value is too big (* 1024) for aps subscriptions"

Traffic lands to OA resources multiplied by 1024. The cause is - IM returns traffic in bytes, while OA counters expect kilobytes.

All mentioned issues are fixed in OAP release 7.2. Please consider upgrading your installation. There is no workaround for these issues for OAP 7.1.
