Symptoms
Office 365 environment contains a group of Office365/Tenant objects, which were synchronized more than month ago with Microsoft portal.
sitelog analysis shows there are ~ 4000 Tenants are synchronized per day.
Cause
Different timeout set for Synchronization with Office 365 Portal periodic task and the synchronization process itself on the Office 365 Endpoint side. A synchronization call takes ~1.5 hour to be completed on the Endpoint side while default task timeout is 300 seconds.
Also, aad.deltaLink and aad.deltaNext request consume different amount of time even for the same Tenant: processing time varies from 3 to 46 seconds.
Request #APSA-18836: "The handler of the periodic task "Office 365 Synchronization with Office 365 Portal" should executed in less than 45 minutes" has been submitted to Odin Development team in order to change this behavior.
