Attempt to create an Office 365 user fails with:

Email notification failed. Server does not support secure connections.


SMTP server configuration does not support SMTPS connections.


The following steps should be done to allow non-secure mail sending:

  1. Open Internet Information Services(IIS) on the Office 365 Endpoint;
  2. Right click on the Office 365 Application and choose Explore;
  3. Find settings.conf file and open it;
  4. String <add key="SMTP_EnableSsl" value="true" /> should be replaced with <add key="SMTP_EnableSsl" value="false" /> ;
  5. Right click on the Office 365 Site choose Manage Web Site and restart it to apply new configuration.
