Symptoms

The following error message appears in CCP upon attempting to create an instance of APS 1.2 application for subscription:

Either there is no domain available or it's impossible to create the required DNS record in the available domain(s) for the application being installed.

Case 1: In CCP > Hosted Domains this account does not have any domains, but domains exist in OA PCP > Customer > Resources.

According to OA DB the domain in question has 'request' type while BA lists it as 'Registered'.

Case 2: APS-application (i.e. Hostopia) requires creation of MX-record in the domain but it cannot create it.

Cause

Case 1: Domain request was not transformed to domain upon successful registration in BA. Thus database inconsistency occurred.

Case 2: All customer's domains already have MX-records. OA checks it and returns mentioned error.

Background: If several MX-records are created by different independent applicatins in a single domain, it can cause mail-service malfunctioning. This is why OA allows to only one application/service to create MX-records in a single domain.

Resolution

Case 1: In order to resolve the inconsistency, please contact Odin Technical Support.

Case 2: Do not install services that require creation of conflicting DNS-records into a single domain.

Solution for the case with APS-package Hostopia: use latest versions of the package which have an ability to disable automatic creation of MX-records (versions 5.x). It will allow to use multiple service in one domain. Example:

  • Web-hosting provided by Hostopia
  • E-mail-hosting from OA Hosted Exchange or some another APS-package (Office 365, Mail2World, etc.)
