O365_APS2 task fails: "Internal Server Error: Response not expected: 1"

Symptoms

O365_APS2 application.
Provisioning "tenant" for APS application O365_APS2 task fails with:

"code": 500,
"error": "Exception",
"message": "Internal Server Error: Response not expected: 1",

The following error could be seen in the application endpoint log (/var/www/html/O365/log_files/2017-06-01_0_log.txt):

Microsoft\Crest\TenantValidator::validatorMS Error: Response not expected: 1

Authentication to Microsoft cloud fails. Reason: invalid Microsoft Reseller credentials or expired Secret Key.

Check that Reseller credentials and secret key are valid in the Microsoft Partner Center. Renew if required.
