Symptoms
Conditions are:
- two or more Exchange versions are deployed in a shared domain environment (e.g. Exchange 2007 and 2010)
- CAS roles are installed on the hosts from both versions
- Front-net IP address indicated in the package properties of CAS protocols (SMTP, POP3, Autodiscover, etc) is the same for both versions
As a result, at Services > Email > Other > Services page, the same amount of organizations is indicated for the corresponding hosts of both Exchange versions
Resolution
The behavior is expected from Odin Service Automation perspective, as user-facing services of CAS roles are bound to the same Exchange clusters for each particular service. To get rid of CAS hosts, it is only required to remove the corresponding packages (e.g. Exchange2007POP3) from such nodes, no customer services unprovisioning is required.
This is not true for hosts storing real data: Mailstores / OAB / Public folder stores. They do not share the hosted content, and customer services should be removed from such nodes prior to decommissioning.
