Office365 4.16 (APS 1.2). Domain availability checker does not work properly: On attempt to place Sales Order to purchase an .onmicrosoft subdomain the following error appears:

Domain already exists.

Also connectivity test at PCP > Billing > System > Settings > Domains > Whois Checker for Office 365 Custom Subdomains > Test Connection (button) fails with error:

Test connection failed.
WhoisClient: Could not open socket to


Wrong settings for Office365 subdomain availability checker script.


  1. Check that target host (where the scripts are located, linpgh server mostly) has Internet access;
  2. Check that all files and settings are configured according to the Office365 Provider's Guide (page 50);
  3. Check if the availability checker is not disabled (it should be disable=no):

    [root@pgh01 xinetd.d]# cat /etc/xinetd.d/o365-whois
    service whois
            disable = no
      type          = UNLISTED
