Upon attempting to register a domain example.tld the following error message emerges:

The domain name example..tld is invalid

There is an extra dot in the domain name

TLD of the domain is confugured incorrectly. Prior to OBAS 4.5.3 a TLD name entered during new TLD adding under Top > Service Director > Domain Manager > Setup > TLDs > New TLD should not have contained a dot, its correct format was tld, not .tld. OBAS addeds a dot to a TLD name automatically, hence if a dot had already been put in a TLD name, OBAS doubled it.

Since OBAS 4.5.3 both tld and .tld formats are supported and do not lead to an error.

Upgrade OBAS to the latest version.

To cope with TLD names that already have been added incorrectly, please follow the steps below:

  1. Create a correct TLD without a dot under Top > Service Director > Domain Manager > Setup > TLDs > New TLD

  2. Delete the double-dotted TLD under Top > Service Director > Domain Manager > Plug-ins > Plug-in name > TLDs

  3. Enable the correct TLD in the hosting plan in question Top > Billing Director > Product Manager > Hosting Plans > Domain Registration > TLD Settings
