How new OS template for VPS hosting could be added to OA?

Adding new OS Template to the system means registering new OS in OA, but not adding this OS physically. OA gets the information about OS version, compatibility and URL where the OS RPM is stored.

You can add either a Base version of OS Template or an Update version of the template.

Before adding any OS Templates to system, you have to decide where the original RPMs of OSs will be stored. It should be some place either in your local network or on a remote computer. The important thing to be considered is that this place can be accessible via HTTP or FTP. For this purpose we recommend you to use mirrors you've set up for storing OA packages. Refer to the corresponding section for the details.

To add a new OS Template, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to Top > Service Director > Virtuozzo Manager > OS Templates page. The list of added OS Templates is displayed if you have any.

  2. Click on the Add New OS Template button located above the list. The OS Template registration form appears.

  3. Specify the following parameters:

    • URL of RPM file with base version template - Specify the full URL (starting with http:// or ftp://) to Virtuozzo Containers template RPM file you wish to add to the repository.

    • Platforms - Select the platform or select Detect automatically (OA will detect automatically a target platform of Virtuozzo Containers template).

Note. The Detect automatically function works for .rpm and .efd templates only.

    • Install update automatically - Check this box if you install an Update version of an OS Template. If you have checked the box, the update you are installing will be automatically installed onto all VPSs with the corresponding Base OS Template installed.
  4. Click Finish.

A new OS Template has been installed onto the system. If you've installed a Base version of an OS Template, you can find it in the OS Templates list at Top > Service Director > Virtuozzo Manager > OS Templates.

If you've installed an Update version of an OS Template, OA will recognize this fact automatically and will add an Update version to the corresponding Base one.
