I'm trying to figure out why websites that don't have SSL activated are replying back with our wildcard ssl cert (*

For domain domain.tld there is no configuration for SSL connection:

[root@server40 ~]# cat /hsphere/local/config/httpd2/sites/158836.conf | grep Virtual

But for ip address of the affected domain there is SSL configuration in template and in corresponding config it self

[root@server40 ~]# cat /hsphere/local/config/httpd2/lservers/web_10.10.10.40.conf | grep Virtual

That is why default server page is loaded. It happens with websites which has the same IP address as l.server only. If website hosted on any additional IP you will get 403 error while accessing it by https:// .
