Symptoms
A user cannot access their Web Data Administrator interface due to the error message "Server Error in 'app_name' Application", shown in their browser (see the screenshot below):
The following entry appears in the Event Viewer on the corresponding server at the same time:
Exception information:
Exception type: HttpException
Exception message: The current identity (HOSTING\wda_p00000134) does not have write access to 'C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files'.
Cause
The IIS_WPG group does not have the MODIFY permission on the C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files folder on the server where the Web Data Administrator service is deployed.
Resolution
Grant the MODIFY permission to the IIS_WPG group on the C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files folder on the corresponding server. There is a request POA-81849 to automate this action.
