What is the maximum number of domains that you recommend per DNS server?

Is there any reference to maximum number of domains hosted on the same DNS?

There is no "official" maximum of domains allowed on a slave DNS server registered in PBA-S, however, there are a couple of points I would like to draw your attention to.

  1. Although the "DNS Synchronization" task runs every two minutes, it processes not more than 10 changed DNS zones at a time due to BIND restriction.

    To set a new number of concurrent inbound zone transfers on a slave DNS server, please open its named.conf file and add to its "options" section the following string:

    transfers-in <NUMBER> ;

    where stands for a number of concurrent inbound zone transfers.

  2. In case many domains are registered in PBA-S the default timeout of 180 seconds might be not enough to synchronize DNS server. If you notice failed 'Sync slave NSes with master NS' name server synchronization tasks, please increase value of the parameter 'Name Server Synchronization Timeout'
