A Provisioning Gateway Host is used to provision APS applications of External System provisioning type.
Provider may see through which Provisioning Gateway a particular APS application instance was provisioned (in case there are many gateways) in POA Provider Control Panel at Service Director > Application Manager > Applications > select application > Instances tab > Hardware Host! field:
