The Service Template for Linux Shared Hosting NG service must include a Resource Type based on the Physical Hosting (Apache) Resource Class. The same resource type is used for both Standard and NG Linux Shared Hosting services.

When configuring Physical Hosting (Apache) resource take into consideration the following Linux Shared Hosting NG restrictions and recommendations:

  • The number of files a subscriber is allowed to create is set in the Web inodes usage hard limit and Web inodes usage soft limit fields. For the Linux Shared Hosting NG service it is recommended to set 100.000 inodes as a hard limit and 80.000 inodes as a soft limit.

  • The amount of diskspace allowed for customers' usage is regulated by setting the limits in the Web disk space usage hard limit field and Web disk space usage soft limit fields. For the Linux Shared Hosting NG service it is recommended to set 6 GB for hard limit and 5 GB as a soft limit.

  • Simultaneous Dynamic Content Request Limit (units) - set the maximum number of simultaneous dynamic processes initiated from Apache directly by a single webspace. The Maximum number of user processes field includes the summarized value for the simultaneously run dynamic processes and the child processes initiated by them. In case the maximum number of user processes has reached its limit, but the limit for simultaneously run dynamic processes still allows initiating a new process, it will be initiated. However, no new child processes will be created for this webspace.

    For example, three simultaneous dynamic processes and five in total processes are allowed. With two simultaneously run processes and three child processes, the maximum number of user processes is reached. But according to the limit for simultaneous dynamic content request limit parameter, one more process can be initiated. After the limit is reached, further requests for dynamic content initiated from the website are rejected.

  • Memory Consumption limit - specify the memory consumption limit per process (SSI exec, CGI, PHP) - it is not divided for number of processes like it is done for standard Linux Shared Hosting. Memory taken by PHP, PERL or any other interpretator itself should be also taken into account when deciding on the memory limit.

    Note: Minimum recommended value for memory consumption limit to ensure the SSH and PHP proper functioning is 200 MB.

  • Default PHP5 mode for webspaces and Default PHP4 mode for webspaces options should be set to Run as CGI Application. Linux Shared Hosting NG service does not support the modphp_ mode.

  • Limit for simultaneous requests - set the limit for all websites within a single webspace.

  • Bandwidth limit - set the bandwidth limit for all websites within a single webspace.

  • CPU Consumption Limit - set the CPU resource limit for all websites within a single webspace.

  • User Processes CPU Limit (% from one web server) - set the limit of CPU resources in percentage allowed to all dynamic processes of all websites within a single webspace.
