This article describes known issues, limitations and possible workarounds for Cloud Infrastructure module in POA 5.3 (PACI Phase 1).
Information
Creating servers on not-ready-to-provide nodes
Servers can be created on nodes even if these nodes are configured as "Ready to provide:no". Workaround: Use Active property instead of ready to provide in Hardware Node > Cloud tab.
eth0 as the public Ethernet interface
The public network card on a PSBM node must have the name of eth0.
Displaying used IP addresses in IP pools
Parallels Operations Automation does not show the number of IP addresses in IP pools that are already allocated to Cloud Infrastructure servers.
Requirements to nodes for migrating servers
The source and destination nodes must meet a number of requirements to successfully migrate servers between them. For detailed information on these requirements, see POA Provider’s Guide > Cloud Infrastructure Hosting > Managing Servers > Migrating Servers.
Configuring template parameters
You cannot configure the parameters of operating system (OS) and application templates registered in Parallels Operations Automation. Issue is fixed in PACI update 1 included into POA 5.3.1.
Deleting OS templates This behavior is correct due to PVC templates design: it is impossible to delete an OS template from a node if at least one application template for this OS template is installed on the node. Remove all application templates for an OS template first, and then delete the OS template itself.
Failure to register an OS template on a node
It is impossible to register an OS template on a node that already has the same OS template installed and cached. To work around this issue, remove the cache from the node using the vzpkg remove cache command before registering the template. Issue is fixed in PACI update 2 included into POA 5.3.2.
Incorrect currency in Parallels Operations Automation
Even if the default currency in Parallels Business Automation is set to another currency than USD, Parallels Operation Automation continues using prices in USD. To work around this problem, go to Top > System Director > Configuration Manager > System Properties, click the Edit button, and change the value of the PACI default currency field to the necessary currency.
Updating licenses on PSBM nodes
Parallels Operations Automation does not recognize whether the license was updated on a PSBM node. To work around this problem, configure some settings of the node (Top > Service Director > Cloud Infrastructure Manager > Hardware Nodes > Node_Name > Cloud > Configure) and save the changes.
Creating images in disabled subscriptions
Customers can create server images using RESTful API even if their subscriptions in Parallels Business Automation are disabled. The fix is scheduled to PACI update 4.
Backup settings in images
The backup settings set for servers are not saved in images.
Backing up servers
Parallels Operations Automation does not try to back up a server again if the first backup attempt fails. Issue is fixed in PACI update 2 included into POA 5.3.2.
Backup settings in cloned servers
The settings of a backup schedule are not saved for cloned servers.
Cloning servers between subscriptions
The POA Control Panel does not support cloning servers between subscriptions.
Refreshing server statuses
Server statuses are not refreshed automatically. To view the new status of a sever, you need to refresh it manually.
Using IPv6 addresses
Cloud Infrastructure tries to enable IPv6 addresses in servers that run operating systems with no IPv6 support. This may cause a situation when no network settings are applied to such servers.
Enabling VLAN0 access to external networks
Virtual private networks (VLAN0’s) do not provide access to external networks for servers included in these networks. To allow servers to access external networks, assign public IP addresses to these servers. Issue is fixed in PACI update 1 included into POA 5.3.1.
Public IP addresses for servers
A server purchased via an online store may have one public IP address only.
Server discounts
When a customer creates a server in the POA Control Panel, the estimated price shown for the server does not include any discounts available to the customer in Parallels Business Automation.
United costs for server resources
Parallels Business Automation shows costs for using resources for a subscription rather than displaying costs for resource usage of inaidual servers. Issue is fixed in PACI update 3 included into POA 5.3.3.
Uninstalling applications from servers
You cannot remove installed applications from servers.
Server restart during creation
During their creation, servers are started and immediately stopped to set the administrative password. Customers are not charged for these actions.
Failure to allocate the entire CPU power to servers
Sometimes, a Container cannot be allocated the CPU power defined by its CPU limit even if the Container requires all allowed CPU power and the CPUs on the node are not fully used.
Failure to view domains used for servers
It is currently impossible to view the domains set for servers. Issue is fixed in PACI update 3 included into POA 5.3.3.
Failure to delete IP addresses from domains
If a customer assigns an IP address to a server during its creation and registers the server in a domain, the DNS record for this IP address is not deleted after the customer removes this IP address from the server. Issue is fixed in PACI update 1 included into POA 5.3.1.
Closing ports on load balancers
By default, all ports on a newly created load balancer are open. You are highly recommended to manually close all ports except for 80 and 443. You may also wish to open some custom port to access the load balancer via SSH and configure SSH to listen on this port.
Visual inaccuracies in the POA Control Panel
The values of sliders in the POA Control Panel may not change when you switch from one predefined configuration to another. The changes, however, are applied to servers when you save their configuration.
Administrative account in virtual machine templates
When registering a new OS template in Parallels Operations Automation, make sure that you enter the correct administrative credentials (e.g., root for a Linux server or Administrator for the English version of a Windows server) for accessing the servers that will be based on this OS template.
Purchasing servers in online stores
A customer may select the I will manage the OS kernel option in an online store even if no virtual machine template for the operating system selected by the customer is set up in Parallels Operations Automation.
