How to use cron inside a VDS

Cron inside a VDS works a bit differently than a usual.

Usualy, editing cron is done by using the "crontab -e" command. However, inside a VDS, "crontab -e" does not work by design.

In order to set up a cron job, please follow the next steps:

  1. Edit your required cron job in /var/spool/cron/VDSNAME (Where VDSNAME is the username used to login to the VDS through ssh).

  2. Save the file

  3. Issue the command crontab without parameters. This operation will apply the new cron job to the user's cron in the machine.
