When running the Helm Remote Installer on a server, it fails with the following error:
Run time error -2147164145 (8004e00f)
Method ~ of object ~ failed
In Event Viewer under "Application", the following error appears related to COM+:
The run-time environment was unable to initialize for transactions required to support transactional components. Make sure that MS DTC is running.(DtcGetTransactionManagerEx(): hr = 0x8004d01b)
As per the error message, you need to make sure DTC (Distributed Transaction Co-ordinator) is running. To do this, go to:
Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Services
Choose Distributed Transaction Co-ordinator, right-click it and choose Properties. Set the "Startup type" to Automatic, and choose Start. If the Start button is not highlighted, just click OK. Then right click on DTC again, and click Start.
If the service doesn't start and it gives you an error, then you may need to flush the MS DTC service logs as per this article:
To do this:
1.) Open up a command prompt
2.) Type msdtc.exe -resetlog
3.) Press enter.
Now try running the Remote Installer. It should work without error.
