Apache 2.0 default charset does not display foreign characters

Apache 2.0 default charset does not display foreign characters or multi-byte characters correctly

Foreign characters or multi-byte characters do not display in web pages delivered by Apache 2.0 server.  This is caused by AddDefaultCharset UTF-8 in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf

Applies To:

   Products:  Ensim Pro, Ensim Basic
   Versions:  3.7.x, 4.0
   Platforms:  Red Hat Enterprise, Fedora

To resolve this issue, modify /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf and change the AddDefaultCharset option.

Change the following:

AddDefaultCharset UTF-8

AddDefaultCharset ISO-8859-1

Alternatively, you can use a charset more appropriate for your system if needed, refer to Apache 2.0 documentation at for available charsets.

After you edit /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf, restart Apache 2.0

service httpd restart
